Which Way Coney Island?

Which Way Coney Island? A Symposium on its Future:What's in store for Coney Island, New York City's famous amusement park? This event brings together many of the most important voices in the debate over the future of Coney Island. The symposium will feature three different visions for the rezoning and redevelopment of Coney, presented by New York City Planning, The Municipal Arts Society, and Thor Equities, LLC. For more than a century, Coney Island has been New York City's playground, amusement park and, in the words of entertainer and panelist Dick Zigun, the "capital of the weird." But it is also a neighborhood facing serious struggles over development. Come hear where Coney Island is headed, and see what the different plans might mean for both local residents and all New Yorkers. The event will be moderated by award-winning journalist and NYU professor Suketu Mehta. With a short Q&A session to follow. Est. time: 90 minutes.
